Gary Charlson

Professional weaboo, anime reviewer, and kendo student, Gary Charlson was summoned to the world of Kakoi no Sekai where he finds himself tasked with getting home, as well as enjoying his time there while he can. He has the mysterious ability to see subtitles whenever someone talks, but has trouble conveying his thoughts to the other characters, having limited knowledge of their language which is rooted only in rosetta stone and watching other anime. This leads the other characters to think he ahas a speaking disorder.

Shinji Hoshiko

The secondary protagonist of subtitled, and the main protagonist of Kakoi no Sekai, Shinji Hoshiko is the typical anime protagonist, being bold, restless, friendly, and determined. His hometown was ravaged by a fire dragon when he was young, and to get revenge, he has set out to kill it. Shinji assembles a group throughout the course of the series, and invites Gary to be a part of this group. Shinji is a part of the berserker class, weilding a massive axe that he swings around recklessly, hoping to land a solid hit which usually ends the fight quickly.

Hanako Yuume

Close range out-play archer, and Shinji's love interest, Hanako Yuume is a competitive trickshooter on the front lines of battle with the desire to become famous. She is the first to join Shinji's group alongside Kenichi Yuume, her timid armor-knight brother who was dragged into Hanako's quest because he wanted to support his sister. Hanako judges her teammates harshly for their mistakes, only taking in her own mistakes a little at a time. Her superiority complex has gotten her into several conflicts in the past, and will likely get her into even more as time goes on.
